The WorldMUN ESCAP committee filtered into room 103 of the Melbourne Convention Centre, the room abuzz with anticipation. Donald Clarke, Chief of Programme Planning and Partnerships at the United Nation’s Asia-Pacific regional arm – ESCAP – was set to arrive sometime during the AM committee meeting, to make a short speech and observe the meeting. The chairs spent a great deal of time emphasising that any delegates not in “western business attire” would be ejected from the committee and sent back to their accommodation to change. The growing presence of “flip-flops” was condemned, but luckily none were unfortunate enough to be wearing their iconic Australian footwear that particular Wednesday. The committee commenced more slowly than usual, with delegates showing a signs of anxious excitement…
